Welcome to the 2015 DANA Many Faces of Addiction Forum

Novotel Sydney Central, 13 – 14 August 2015

In 2015, the Drug & Alcohol Nurses of Australasia’s (DANA) annual conference incorporated the renowned NSW Nurses’ Forum, to bring you the DANA Many Faces of Addiction Forum. This dynamic nursing forum brought together leaders in the addiction field from across Australia and New Zealand, to share their knowledge about the science of addiction and effective clinical practices. The DANA Forum theme, Many Faces of Addiction, reflected upon the diverse nature of addiction where the impact of drug and alcohol misuse can be viewed from multiple perspectives.

As nurses, we are conscious that the impact of drug and alcohol misuse can be viewed from many different perspectives and understanding each perspective is important to determine best practice. Approaches to the treatment of addiction are continuously evolving and in order to effectively respond to these changes, nurses and other health care workers need to be aware of contemporary substance use and associated issues.

The DANA Forum provided a valuable opportunity for nurses and health care professionals to hear from industry leaders, stay informed on current issues and join in the discussion with colleagues. Thank you for joining us in Sydney.
